The use of mythological imagery in Turkish poetry is crucial for exploring historical orientation and cultural codes. Tuğrul Tanyol, a poet from the 1980s generation, is known for weaving both individual and collective themes into his works, drawing heavily from history and culture. Through his poems, Tanyol uses the semantic realm of mythology to create images that link the past and the future, thus demonstrating his originality. In his collection August Passages (Ağustos Dehlizleri), Tanyol transforms motifs of animals, nature, and colors into unique poetic images. This process serves as an aestheticization of his work and adds depth to contemporary Turkish poetry by reflecting cultural codes. This study specifically examines the mythological traces in Tanyol’s poetry, focusing on metaphors related to color, animals, and nature. It analyzes how these traces are expressed and how Tanyol’s distinct poetic approach bridges mythological meaning with modern artistic reflection.
