ORTAK TÜRK ALFABESİ: ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ BİLGİ DÜZEYLERİ, FARKINDALIKLARI VE GÖRÜŞLERİ

Özet

It is believed that the use of a common alphabet in the Turkish world is important in terms of establishing a standard language and strengthening linguistic unity by eliminating phonetic differences. In this context, the study aims to examine the knowledge levels and opinions of teacher candidates regarding the common Turkish alphabet. The research was designed using a phenomenological approach. The study group consisted of 127 teacher candidates studying Turkish, classroom, and social studies teaching at a state university. An interview form created by the researchers was used as the data collection tool. According to the study’s findings, it was determined that 35% of teacher candidates had no prior knowledge of the Common Turkish Alphabet initiative and were hearing about it for the first time through this study. In addition, it was found that some teacher candidates were aware of this application through social media and news sites but did not know its content. Furthermore, it was observed that the teacher candidates stated that the common Turkish alphabet application had various positive aspects, such as promoting unity in the Turkish world and facilitating communication.
