GEÇ DÖNEM ÇAĞATAY TÜRKÇESİYLE YAZILAN SEYYİD ÂFÂK HOCA VE TEZKİRESİ ADLI ESERDEKİ BAZI DİL ÖZELLİKLERİ

Özet

In Chagatai Turkic, the standard second-person plural possessive conjugation is formed with the suffix +(x)ŋI2z, a structure utilized for nearly five centuries before giving way to +(i)ngiz in modern Uzbek, and +(x)ŋlAr alongside +liri in Modern Uyghur. The late-period text examined in this study, Seyyid Âfâk Hoca ve Tezkiresi, the possessive suffix +(x)ŋlAr -previously unrecorded in Chagatai grammar- was identified alongside the standard form. Given the text's provenance in the Uyghur region and Seyyid Âfâk Hoca's cultural standing, this form may reflect influence from Uyghur dialects. Furthermore, contrary to classical literature, the conditional suffix -sA functions as an imperative (second-person plural and third-person singular), displaying a semantic overlap between optative and imperative functions. The conditional variant -sAŋlAr provides further morphological evidence of dialectal interaction. As existing grammatical studies do not address the imperative function of -sA in Modern Uyghur, these findings offer novel contributions contributions to Turkic linguistics.
