MEMLÛK KÜLTÜRÜNÜN İZ DÜŞÜMLERİNİ KENDİNDEN MENKUL RENKLERİ ÜZERİNDEN OKUMAK

Özet

Colors constitute one of the most enduring themes in cultural life. The civilizational legacy of the medieval polity known as al-Dawla al-Turkiyya, or the Mamluk Sultanate, remains visible in the rich spectrum of colors used in the monuments they constructed in the cities under their rule. Color, as an element that enables us to understand the political and social structures shaped throughout the historical development of the Mamluk state as well as its artistic outlook, extends beyond being merely a tangible cultural component. This study delineates the socio-cultural and political framework of the Mamluk state through the integrative use of color in fields such as art and textile production, where it functioned as a means of visual enrichment. It examines how colors were incorporated into a system of meaning within Mamluk art and culture and analyzes their political, social, and religious significance.
