Abstract

WORD OF KOŞ AND ITS SEMANTIC FIELD IN THE KISASU’L-ENBİYA THAT IS WRITTEN WITH KHWAREZM TURKISH
Kısasu’l-Enbiya (Anecdotes of Prophets), considered among the Khwarezm Turkish works (13-14th century) within the Turkishness science, is the adaptation of the translation of anectodes of prophets from Arabic to Persian to the Turkish language by Nasırü’d-din bin Burhanü’d-din Rabguzî (Ribat-ı Oguzî) in the year 709/1309-10. This work of adaptation significantly contributes to both the era it was written in and to the Turkish language history works in terms of sound and form information as well as the existence of words. During the studywhich we shall publish soon and in which we laid emphasis on the origin information and history of the words Koş and koşa within the meaning and usage in Turkish dialects, it has been determined that the word koş was used in six different meanings which could be considered by our side pursuant to polysemy in Kısasu’l-Enbiya. Discovering the many meanings of the word already existing in the dictionaries of the era in this work shows the wealth of Kısasu’l-Enbiyaas well as the period it was written in. In order to put forth this richness in meaning with respect to the use of the word Koş, the word that was repeated 12 times in the text has been reviewed in terms of meaning information by means of taking as the basis the text and index works prepared by Aysu Ata and comparison was made between the dictionaries of the period and the meaning within the texts and the method of witnessing has been used.
