Abstract

THE HERO'S FAITH PROBLEM IN AZERBAIJANI NARRATIVES OF THE SOVIET ERA
In Soviet-era Azerbaijani literature, the subject of religion had been included among the primary topics of narratives since the first years of the adoption of socialist realism. In this respect, religion is among the most important subjects addressed within the sense of "orientational literature" in the Soviet Union. In the stories and novels of this period, it is observed that there is a common effort to alter the perception of religion by the society and particularly the youth and produce individuals who are completely disconnected from religion through a skeptical attitude towards faith and the existence of Allah. However, in contrast with this approach present in many of the Soviet-era works, it is observed that basic concepts such as the presence of the concept of religion, the spiritual world of individuals and faith slowly began to be addressed in accordance with their fundamentals in the 1960 Prose period. In this context, in the present study, the social reflections of the need for faith, which is regarded as being among the most fundamental needs of humans, were revealed through novel and story characters by giving examples from the works of important authors of Azerbaijani literature such as Elçin, İsi Melikzade, Yusuf Samedoğlu, Mevlüt Süleymanlı, Magsud İbrahimbeyov and Sabir Ahmedov.
