Abstract
FACTORS AFFECTING ACADEMIC MOTIVATION: STUDENTS BARRIERS TO ONLINE LEARNING
Nowadays epidemic and disaster situations, online learning is frequently used. Compared to face-to-face education, online learning has many advantages and disadvantages. The most important of these is that the learning barriers that arise in the online learning process affect academic motivation. The purpose of this research is to examine student barriers as a predictor of academic motivation of university students in the online learning process. The sample of the research consists of 386 students studying at universities in Central Anatolia in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The “Academic Motivation Scale”, the “Student Barriers in Online Learning Scale” and personal information form prepared by researchers was used to collect the research data. Multiple regression analysis was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it was concluded that online learning barriers have a moderate and significant relationship with academic motivation in general. In addition, it has been revealed that online learning barriers are significant predictors of academic motivation. The results of the research showed that the most important predictor of online learning barriers affecting academic motivation is academic skills.
