Abstract

THE POWER OF THE WORD, THE MAGIC OF POETRY: ON THE SACREDITY OF WORD AND POETRY IN DIVAN LITERATURE
The adventure of "word", which started with the creation of the universe, turned into writing with God's creation of "plate" and "pen", and continued with the creation of humans by accompanying their ceremonies in their language. The word, which was "breath" when God created man by blowing them their soul, was seen as sacred by ancient people and therefore was believed to have great power in human life. The "ceremonial language" that ancient people transformed into a rhyming form has only been used in situations such as "swearing", "promising", "praying", "cursing" in the changing lives of human beings. People believed that every word that comes out of the mouth has an unchangeable power and poetry has its magic, and they associated the word and poetry with extraordinary beings. The writers of biographies and poets, who see the good word/poem as "God's given" and the bad word/poem as the "devil's instrument", have tried to explain the greatness of good poetry with the verses and hadiths about the poet and poetry in the Qur'an.In this study, thoughts on the sanctity of "word" and "poetry" in the Qur'an and hadiths, Arabic, Persian and Turkish biographies and divan poetry will be tried to be determined.
