Abstract
AN EVALUATION ABOUT HASAN YURTOĞLU'S WEYSEL PARADOKSU NOVEL
Intertextuality and its elements such as parody, pastiche, irony and metafiction have expanded the novel's world of possibilities. Hasan Yurtoğlu is one of the contemporary novelists and whose literary work named Weysel Paradoksu is an anti-novel. This novel is far away from the traditional novel structure. However, we can see the ironic attitude that Oğuz Atay successfully applied in Tutunamayanlar in the Weysel Paradoksu. While Tutunamayanlar is a novel of alienation, Weysel Paradoksu is the story of an antihero who is journey from the suburbs to the university. Veysel, who wanders among the books, returns to the mentality of the place where he started his life. In this story, individual transformation, references to our political history, the open sides of philosophical and religious perceptions, and most importantly, the perception of love are discussed. Veysel Genç, who has fallen in love with an imaginary lover, does not commit suicide like Werther, from whom he borrowed his name. He reaches an end, namely to be a Mecnun (Mecnunluk), according to the traditional love format. Even this situation alone carries the novel to a different point from its similiar novels.
