Abstract

AN INVESTIGATION ON THE USE OF MENTAL VERBS IN CODEX CUMANICUS IN CURRENT ANATOLIAN DIALECTS
It is a known fact that there is a direct relationship between language and the life and thought system of the society that uses it in written and verbally. The social life of the nations and the system of thought appear as two concepts that progress in parallel. Based on the relationship between language and mind, the formation of words in the brain is examined by researchers. The mental process of language consists of different stages. The first stage of this process is perception. Human senses the events around him and sends them to the brain. In the second stage, it performs the interpretation together with the information received and contained in the brain. Finally, the individuals transfer their thoughts and feelings into the language from this information. This process clearly shows the direct relationship between mind and language. It has always been a matter of curiosity for linguists to see how the periodic use of Turkish is today. With this study, the mental verbs that are used in the Kuman-Kipchak region which is an important region for the Turkish language were revealed and the status of mental verbs that are used in contemporary Turkish in current Anatolian dialects was attempted to be determined on the basis of Codex Cumanicus.

Keywords
