YAZARLARIN GÖZÜYLE BURSA’YA SEYAHAT (1889-1925)

Özet

In travel writings writers introduce a region they visit from various aspects such as geography, history, architecture, traditions and transportation possibilities. Bursa draws attention in travel writings in Turkish literature. Official duty, exile, the necessity of immigration because of war conditions etc. brought people to Bursa. The proximity of the city to Istanbul has also increased the interest in Bursa. Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, fascinates its visitors with its geographical beauties and architecture as well as its historical value. Regardless of the chronology, some commonalities stand out in the eighteen texts examined in the study. Tombs - especially Yeşil Türbe-, mosques, baths, thermal springs, plain and Uludağ come to the fore. Analyzing texts chronologically, the changes taken place in the city over time are noticed. The outlook of writers on the city is determined by their life experiences, the reasons for their visit, and the conditions of their time. Keeping the social memory alive, travel writings combining personal and social history are valuable.
