TRAJEDİDEN KAÇIŞIN TRAJEDİSİ: GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ’İN KIRMIZI PAZARTESİ ADLI ROMANININ İNCELENMESİ

Özet

The tragedy that emerged in the Attica region of Ancient Greece in the 6th century BC, has significantly affected human life, both aesthetically and philosophically as it developed through the concept of conflict. The tragedy has been interrupted sometimes, but it survived until modern times. The tragedy also contributed to the emergence of the modern genres, such as the novel, that contributes to the birth of the individual in literature. The tragic concept in tragedy hasn't been only an issue of interest to artists; It also attracted the attention of many philosophers because of its intellectual dimension. For instance, Max Scheler is one of the philosophers who studied the concept of tragic. At first, the study identifies the basic concepts of Max Scheler’s tragic theory and then argues the tragical possibility of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel “Chronicle of a Death Foretold”. When the novel is analyzed from the murderer’s perspective rather than the main character, Santiago, it is seen that the novel has the basic features of a tragic text. In terms of the question of whether a tragic text can be written or not in the modern period when the novel is examined, it is seen that the tragic situation is not pure in the novel and it has been seen the tragic sometimes creates an ironic situation.
