CUMHURİYET GAZETESİNDE (1977) MEYDANA GELEN DİL TARTIŞMALARINA YÖNELİK BİR İNCELEME
Özet
The 1970s years are an important period for Turkish history in terms of both political conflicts and societal polarization. Although there was a government under the prime ministry of Süleyman Demirel especially in 1977, totally 13 governments worked from 31st Republic government to 43rd Republic government between in 1970 and 1980. Even forming of 13 governments is a sufficient reason in terms of the political structure/conflict of this period. Newspapers and journals were the primary of media with the language discussions of the period. By looking at this context, in the study, all issues of Cumhuriyet newspaper in 1977 were scanned and it was tried to shed light on what type of the discussions about language in the newspaper. Discussions consist of subtitles from “Language Discussions for the Changes in Course Books”, “Language Discussions for Pure Turkishness”, “Language Discussions for Art and Science Language” and “Language Discussions for Translation Language”. We can say that Cumhuriyet newspaper approaches the discussions with a view of “Pure Turkish Language” and supports the concept of “Language Reform”.
