Özet

The domestication of horse by nomads and its use as a steed in ancient times is considered a milestone in the history of mankind. In this context, the fact that the horses of the Turks were fast moving in vast steppes, impervious to hunger and thirst as well as to passing mountain ranges had played an important role both in the development of nomadic civilization and in spreading Turks to a large part of the Eurasian geography and establishing equestrian empires. This article studies the emergence of Turkish horse among nomads in the sample of the Kyrgyz who have conserved nomadic culture vividly up today, its place in social life, breeding and herding as well as its ownership.
