YABANCI DİL OLARAK TÜRKÇE ÖĞRETİMİNDE DİL ÖĞRENME STRATEJİLERİNE DAYALI ETKİNLİKLERİN OKUMA BECERİLERİNE YÖNELİK BAŞARIYA VE KALICILIĞA ETKİSİ

Özet

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of the activities based on memory, cognitive and compensation strategies that are involved in direct strategies in classification of language learning strategies of Oxford (1990), on the success and permanence for B2 level students’ listening comprehension skills. Experimental group and control group consist of 41 foreign national students who B2 level representing intermediate level in Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Research and Implementation Center (NEÜ TÖMER) in 2014 - 2015 spring season. In the study which was carried out by Mixed Method, quantitative and qualitative research approaches were used together and the data obtained from these methods was integrated with comments. In the quantitative dimension of the research, in which Mixed Method was used, Pretest, Posttest and Control Group Model of True Experimental Designs were used. The experimental process continued for 6 weeks. Listening comprehension success test was implemented on the groups at the beginning and end of the process. After 22 days of obtaining the posttest of data, success test was implemented again to obtain the data of permanence. In the qualitative dimension in which Case Study was used data collection techniques such as focus group discussion and language learning journal were used. For data analysis, T Test for Related Samples, T Test for Unrelated Samples, Shapiro-Wilks Test and Levene test have been used in this research. Group According to findings, it was concluded that the pretest and posttest mean score of the listening comprehension success test of the students in experimental and control group significantly increased but the difference between the groups was in favor of experimental group; there was a meaningful difference, which was in favor of experimental group, between post-test and permanence mean score of the students who were in experimental and control group for listening comprehension success tests; the pictures and the photos given before listening activity provided to make association about this activity and prompted given information; the strategies used made it easier to keep the information in memory and this lead to a positive impact on the reading field in terms of vocabulary.
